The following is an explanation how to install the compile cycle Tool & Process Monitoring (TPM) as part of a ToolScope installation.

When working through the steps described below, note the importance of the individual steps by looking at the Siemens documentation for the compile cycle. Depending on your NCU software version, you must either work through

TPM installation guide for NC versions from 06.04 (840D pl) and al 840D sl versions

The following is an explanation how to install the compile cycle Tool & Process Monitoring (TPM) as part of a ToolScope installation, if you have an NC software version from 06.04 (840D pl) or all 840D sl versions.

  1. 840D powerline: Copy the ELF file from the compile cycle into the "Loadable compile cycles" directory (possibly also saved as "_N_CCOEM_DIR") on the flash card.

    840D solution line: Copy the ELF file from the compile cycle into the"\oem\sinumerik\oa\" directory on the flash card.
     
  2. The following points must be completed at the same time. In particular, do not complete an NCK reset heedlessly before you reach Point 5.

    Set the bit[7] in the MD19610[1].
     
  3. IF no MD60947 exists, complete an NCK reset.
     
  4. Set the MD60947[0] to 1.
     
  5. The control system may issue a warning that the memory must be reorganized.

    Generate the NC backup, inc. all options (compensation data, etc.), then re-import the NC backup directly.

    If problems occur: Set the "S4"/"PLC" key switch on the NCU to "2" while you are generating/importing the backup. Then set it back to "0".
     
  6. NCK reset
     
  7. Check whether MD61700, MD61701 and MD61702 are present. If not (may be the case for newer NCUs from software status 2.06), set the MD19610[2] to 40hex (i.e. bit 6 to [1]) and then complete an NCK reset.
     
  8. Fill the MD61700[0..7] to the axis number on the main spindle.
     
  9. Complete the MD61701 with the start address for the device inputs on the Profibus and the MD61702 with the start address for the device outputs on the Profibus.
     
  10. NCK reset
     
  11. If the machine is not functioning correctly after this, switch it off and back on again. If it still does not start up correctly, the compile cycle installation was not successful. Locate the error by discussing it with us or with Siemens, for example.

TPM installation guide for NC versions up to 06.03 (840D pl)

The following is an explanation how to install the compile cycle Tool & Process Monitoring (TPM) as part of a ToolScope installation, if you have an NC software version up to 06.03 (840D pl).

  1. Install a backup of the PLC on the HMI. Install a backup of the NC that includes the compensation data.
     
  2. You can skip the following paragraph if your machine has a technology card that makes the "tool and process monitoring" compile cycle available: Switch off the machine. Replace the NCU card in the control system with the technology card containing the "tool and process monitoring" compile cycle supplied by Siemens. Carry out a general reset for the control system by turning the S3 key switch on the NCU to "1" and switching on the machine. Once the NCU has started up, turn the S3 key switch back to "0". Re-import the NC backup.
     
  3. For 06.03 software statuses, the functionality of the compile-cycle storage space must be approved. Contact us if you have the exact software version 06.03.xx.
     
  4. In the "Setup / Options" menu, deactivate the machine-data display filter if it is set.
     
  5. Set the machine date MD19600[7] to 0xff.
     
  6. IF the control system issues a warning that is necessary to reorganize the memory, you must immediately install a backup of the NC, the PLC and the compensation data with the HMI. Input the backup that you have just created.
     
  7. Fill the MD61700[0..7] to the axis number on the main spindle.
     
  8. Complete the MD61701 with the start address for the device inputs on the Profibus and the MD61702 with the start address for the device outputs on the Profibus.
     
  9. NCK reset
     
  10. If the machine is not functioning correctly after this, switch it off and back on again. If it still does not start up correctly, the compile cycle installation was not successful. Locate the error by discussing it with us or with Siemens, for example.
