This article describes the usage of the driver "Remote access" for transferring sensor data and status information between ToolScope components. The network protocol is described here.

The "Remote access" driver imports data from a ToolScope or a ToolScope Connector, which is connected to the device via a network. You must configure an IP address and the port with which the connection is to be established. If the connection cannot be established while the device is being started up, the device will not start up. In that case the ToolScope will try to restart the sensor after 10 seconds. You can disable this behaviour by unchecking the checkbox "Cyclical restart the sensors until a connection is established" .

If the connection fails during running operation, all driver signals, including the triggers, are set to error. As soon as the connection is established again, the monitoring will continue to run normally.

Be sure to check the checkbox "The driver applies the time system from the destination ToolScope" on a ToolScope Net. This causes the ToolScope to get its timestamp from the target IP. Without this, the ToolScope would properly have no source of a timestamp. A ToolScope device can get its timestamp from the real time layer of the device. But using the timestamp of the target IP is usually better, since the timestamp can then come from the control system itself.

Function name

Description

Destination IP

IP for the target system

Destination Port

Port for the target system

Receive Port Port for receiving the data on older versions or in case of a error

Warm start in the event of connection problems when starting up

If this setting is activated, the ToolScope will restart if it is unable to establish a connection with the target system during start up

The driver applies the time system from the destination ToolScope

If this setting is activated, the time system of the destination device is applied if possible

Send Override of channel If this setting is activated, the ToolScope sends the override signal of the control monitoring to the control system
Override channel count Count of the different override channels the driver should send to the control system
Cyclical restart the sensors until a connection  is established If this setting is activated, the ToolScope will try to restart the sensors every time they turn off through a error
Read incoming Siemens alarms If this setting is activated, the ToolScope will read incoming alarm data from a Siemens control system an process them
