By enabling the licence bit #4 ( E65 21100 ), a ToolScope can be extended with a monitoring strategy "Minimum/Maximum".

This is a special monitoring procedure. It can be used with just the minimum and maximum values of a process or with the wohle process curve.

To use this function, you must select "Minimum/Maximum" in the "Monitoring" selection field for a monitoring channel in the configuration settings.

Depending on how the monitoring is configured it either monitors the curve or the minimum/maximum of a process versus a set minimum and maximum limit.

Configuring the Minimum/Maximum monitoring procedure

Configurable parameters

In the left-hand area, use the drop-down menus in the "Sensor selection" area to select a trigger and a monitoring value. The "Trigger" channel describes the signal upon whose occurrence the monitoring will be activated (flank change from 0 to 1). The "Monitored signal" channel describes the signal to be monitored.

In the right-hand area, use the "Process selection" field to select the process whose settings are to be displayed. Below this, the individual parameters of the respective process are displayed.

The following parameters can be changed manually:

Function name

Description

Monitoring active

The checkmark next to "Monitoring active" specifies whether or not any alarms are to be issued for the process in question. If no checkmark is set here, the process is known to the monitoring and is observed, but no alarms are issued.

Maximum

Here, you can enter the desired limit value for the maximum limit. The monitoring issues an alarm to the control system when the maximum limit has been exceeded. Depending on the settings this alarm is given imediatly or at the end of the process.

Minimum

Here, you can enter the desired limit value for the minimum limit. The monitoring issues an alarm to the control system when the minimum limit has been exceeded. Depending on the settings this alarm is given imediatly or at the end of the process.

Relearn; number of processes

As soon as the checkmark is set next to "Relearn; number of processes" and the process is observed the next time, the monitoring forgets the previous data and relearns the newly entered number of processes.

You can change the view from minimum/maximum (shown above) to the actual curves by using "Show measured values".

Selecting the display type

In Service -> Settings -> Monitoring -> Channel X you can change the display type from time-based (standard; shows the actual curves) to characteristic-value-based (shows the minimum and maximum of a process over the amount of processes).

Suppress automatic learning

In Service -> Settings -> Monitoring -> Channel X you can suppress the automatic learning. In this case processes will not learn the limits automaticly as they usually do.

In the configuration view of the monitoring window a new button will show up, "Teach as reference". You can run a process and afterwards check if it was ok. Then you can hit the button and the process will be used as a learning curve and generate learned limits.
