This article explains, how to install the NC cycles during a ToolScope installation on a Siemens control.

You will also receive a file called "Installation package" with the device. It contains a TS_SETSTRING.SPF NC cycle and other helpers.

  • Copy the TS_SETSTRING cycle into a suitable NC directory.
  • The installation package contains a file called "AnhangMGUD.txt". Add the variables to the GUDs.
  • At the beginning of the tool-change cycle, set a M809 (automatic trigger OFF). Calling M809 ensures that ToolScope does interpret axis movements to be processes in the middle of the tool change.
  • The "TS_SETSTRING" cycle has a processing time of 50-200 ms (depending on the PLC cycle time). You should avoid using it. However, for process documentation, it does bring the user some significant added value (e.g. transmission of part serial numbers).

If the "NCCH1_Var_Progname" input is set to TRUE in the FB391 PLC-Block, the program name is automatically transferred. The transfer is triggered manually for M814.

If the "NCCH1_Var_GUD_lesen" input is set to TRUE in the FB391 PLC-Block, the "BRINKHAUS" GUD variable is transferred as the tool name when M815 is called. You could therefore copy the tool name into the BRINKHAUS variable during the tool change and then trigger an M815 directly afterwards. You can find examples in the file called "AnhangWerkzeugwechsel.txt".

When using "NCCH1_Var_Progname" and "NCCH1_Var_GUD_lesen", the two most used strings are made known to ToolScope with almost no loss of cycle time. Further amendments should be made by the user.
